This is part 2 of the short series on HOW LIFE COACHING CAN HELP YOU.
In this article, I’m sharing 6 more benefits of working with a life coach and how life coaching can help you improve your life, whether through small steps or big breakthroughs.
(Read about benefits 1-5 here)
6) A life coach will help you stop playing the games you’re losing
It’s easy to get sucked into games other people play with us. Most of the time we’re not even aware of it. It’s the little dramas and ways other people try to use to manipulate us and get what they want (sometimes just a reaction).
If it’s someone else’s game, then it’s someone else’s rules, which you probably don’t know. No wonder you’re losing.
A coach will help you see what’s really going on, stand your ground, say no, and keep these people at arm’s length.
7) Working with a life coach is your bet on you!
When you decide to work with a life coach to help you improve yourself and your life, there is usually a financial investment you need to make. This financial investment is a crucial part of coaching because it’s your bet on you! Through this, you send a vital message to yourself and your subconscious mind: that your future is truly important to you, and that you believe in yourself.
It’s the opposite of procrastination and negative self-talk.
Sometimes this alone makes a massive shift in one’s mindset.
8) A life coach will give you the accountability you need
The problem with personal growth is that it’s usually purely on us.
In your job, you have your superiors holding you accountable for your commitments and responsibilities, and if you don’t deliver, you’re in trouble.
When it comes to your personal goals though, if you don’t work on them, most often, nothing much happens, no one knows.
But when you work with a coach and you agree to make specific progress, your coach will hold you accountable for it, which massively increases your commitment to getting it done.
Moreover, if you don’t, you’ll likely have an accountability conversation with your coach exploring what stopped you from making it happen and how to prevent it from happening next time.
It’s powerful, and it works.
9) A life coach will stop you from making excuses
When we don’t feel like or are scared to do something we find justifications why it cannot be done or why it can wait at least.
These are called excuses.
It’s a natural way we consciously or unconsciously try to wiggle out of things.
A coach will help you expose and overcome these excuses so they can no longer have power over you.
10) A life coach will help you see things more clearly
Making a change (even a positive one) requires a step out of our comfort zone into the unknown, and the unknown is naturally terrifying to us or at least uncomfortable. That’s why people often get stuck in their situations because they fear change.
A life coach will guide you in exploring the unknown, get clear on what options you have, how you could progress forward, how you can minimise your risks, and how you would potentially handle some missteps.
Very often, the fears that are stopping us are pure fabrications of our imaginations and very unlikely to actually happen.
Having more clarity makes taking these steps forward much more comfortable and thus possible.
11) A life coach will help you take action
Working with a coach is all about progress, whether internally or externally. Once you commit to working with a coach, you will start taking action. Whether you take baby steps (which is ok) or giant leaps forward, progress is progress, and making progress feels great.
If you’re struggling to take action, get a coach. Period.
I hope this has given you a little bit more insight into whether life coaching is what you need right now.
